Lake Seminole Fishing

Lake Seminole is a large reservoir located on the border of Florida and Georgia that is also called the Jim Woodruff Dam. You will find a large amount of hydrilla and flooded timber in Lake Seminoe that provide good coverage for many fish species. During the warm summer months you can typically find a good early morning or late evening topwater bite using frogs in the grass. Sunshine and striped bass fishing is a good bet on Lake Seminole that has yielded a former record striper catch. The prime fishing is in the spring and the best baits are spinners and plastic worms as the bass move into the shallows. For bluegill and shellcracker, fish in the spring and use crickets and earthworms. Lake Seminole fly fishing is excellent for bream when the mayflies hatch and fall into the lake. Some large strings of speckled perch are caught in January and February on live minnows.
