Lake Toho Fishing

Lake Toho is short for Lake Tohopekaliga and is known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in Florida. Lake Toho is part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and is the largest lake in Osceola County and connects to East Lake Toho through the St Cloud Canal. Approximately one-third of Lake Toho is made up of maidencane grass and bullrush reeds that provide great coverage for bass. Lake Toho anglers like to use weedless lures in thick vegetation in less than 6 feet of water for successful bass fishing. Plastic baits like worms, crawfish, and lizards flipped along grass edges, hydrilla, and bullrush will also catch nice sized bass. Spring and fall are best for bass on Lake Toho, but summer can be productive as well. Shellcracker fishing is good in the spring on earthworms. Summer is best for bluegills on earthworms or crickets while speckled perch prefer small live minnows. Look for fish attractors located in deeper parts of Lake Toho that hold good concentrations of fish.
